Wine Country Reflecting

After 4600 miles, 4 weeks and close to 20 National and Monuments we find ourselves a little buzzed and taking a break in the RV in Prosser at Wine Country RV Park. It would be impossible to blog everything we have done along the way and do it justice. So what I will do is pass on some of the stuff I have left out so far.

We have had 5 meals outside of the RV in 4 weeks - 2 lunches and 3 dinners. 4 of the meals were at casinos - 2 in Vegas, 1 in Reno and one in Toppenish. The other was just outside of Zion National Park. Other than that we have been preparing every meal from scratch. Most of the breakfasts have been raw organic oats with nonfat organic yogurt and berries, but the has been the occasional smoothie and a couple of hot cereal days.

Lunch has mainly been either salads or sandwiches or both. We have been lucky at times finding organic sliced turkey. We stock up when we find that kind of product.

Dinners have varied from little pizzas made with flatbread and light toppings to pasta made with tomatoes I preserved from our garden. We have been lucky to find some great organic heirloom tomatoes which are great on the flatbread lightly brushed with olive oil and some olives and a little grated parmesan or romano. They cook in 5 minutes at 550 in our little oven. We have also just gone with salad and occasionally the brown rice and sprouted bean trio salad.

We have hiked or walked over 140 miles not counting Athena's necessary walks in the morning and sometimes the middle of the night.

We took all of the Indiana Jones , Mummy, Pirates of the Caribbean, National Treasure, and another 10 movies and have watched them all. We have caught a little TV, but not much.

As we drove towards Hood River there was a huge rainbow that could be seen from 40 or 50 miles away. It was raining so the pictures didn't turn out too well.

We found some really great places that are way off the beaten path including Frenchglen Oregon and the park we stayed at outside of Paterson Wa last night called Crow Butte. We also learned that only desperation should leave someone in Winnemucca NV for the night.

Neither of us has seen a scale in 4 weeks and it is sort of fun and scary at the same time. It seems like we have likely lost weight so it will be fun to check it out when we get home.

I can hear an elegant red wine taste calling us so that's enough for now.

More soon....
