The Good Stuff -Part I

I was challenged to pass on the people and companies doing it right as opposed to hammering Monsanto over and over. OK. Let's do this.

1. Earthbound Farms Baby Kales - Costco $4.79 for a big bag. This stuff is tender and tasty. You can use it either in a salad - I use it as the only greens in a salad sometimes - or mix it with some mixed greens or organic romaine or whatever you like or you can cook them down like southern style greens by heating a little olive oil in a pan and sauteing some onion and garlic and then add the greens to the pan until they wilt down. Add a little red wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar and some water or low sodium broth if you like and cook for 10 -15 minutes.

2. TruRoots Organics. These guys make some great products that are available at Costco, Amazon and other store. We use the Sprouted Bean Trio, Sprouted Rice and Quinoa, and Quinoa from them. The sprouted beans cook in 15 -20 minutes and are great to add to soups, chilis and salads. You get a bunch of protein and fiber from them as well as both of the quinoa items.

3. Earthbound Farms Organic Brocolette - Costco $5.49  This is a more tender and slightly sweeter relative of broccoli. Like kale, broccoli is a calciferous vegetable which have lots of antioxidants and beneficial nutrients and fiber. The brocolette can be eaten raw or quickly steamed or steam sauteed. That means they are on the plate in less than 10 minutes total time. They take whatever seasoning you like so you can have them as oriental with a little ginger and sesame oil or Indian with some curry or Cajun with some Cajun spice or Italian with some fresh basil, thyme and oregano.

4. Bob's Red Mill - They have tons of Organics including 2 staples at our house - The Extra Thick Organic Rolled Oats and The Organic Creamy Buckwheat Cereal. These are available at most stores or online at bobsredmill.com or if you are in the Portland Oregon area you can visit their store in Milwaukie. They also have organic flours and seeds and other great stuff. They are employee owned and fun to shop with.

5. Eden Organics. They have lots of products and aren't owned by a conglomerate that is trying to keep GMO's from being labeled. I use their Organic popcorn and have used their organic canned tomatoes and other products.

Oops. I have to get to the gym to be abused by a trainer so I'll do more soon.

Be very well and more soon....
