Waiting For a Quitter

So here we are doing something a couple of years ago I would have found more than disturbing. We are waiting for one more person to drop out on their permit to climb Mt St Helens tomorrow so we can take it. One already wants out. I don't know the name for this, but I am sure it is a sickness. We are hanging around waiting to pay $22 each to put ourselves through the pain of a 10.5 mile round trip hike with 5000 ft of elevation gain - most of which will be hiked in the snow!

Mt Adams was in view all day
So, part two of our RV trip started without me as I left Monday with a brother and brother-in-law for Grayland to build a deck for another brother. Pam came out Tuesday afternoon and watched us as we fought our fatigue to finish the thing at 8:30 or 9:00 PM.

We left there Wednesday for Yakima (The Sun). We stayed a night at  the Yakama (that is how the tribe spells it) RV Park which is, magically, a short walk to their casino. No real damage was done at the casino that night or the next morning after we went for a nice bike ride.

We headed from there to Prosser because you can't just get close to wineries without some tastes. We visited Alexandria Nicole and Airfield. They were both fabulous as expected and the guy at Alexandria Nicole must have had us taste a little of everything. I was sure we would taste their tap water before he was done with us.

Mt Hood from Horsehead Butte trail
From there we headed to Brooks State Park just north of Goldendale for the night. A quick hike in the morning and we were off. We managed another short hike at Horsethief Butte along the Columbia and then a harrowing drive through Mt Adams forest service roads to Cougar. I don't recommend those roads for an RV - just sayin'.

Here we sit waiting for a drop out. Come on quitter!

More soon....
